Dr. Brian Kaufman, DO, is Nasson’s Medical Director/Physician. Brian Kaufman, D.O. is Nasson’s Medical Director/Physician. After completing his undergraduate work at Stoney Brook University, Brian completed medical school at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. Trained as a General Internist, Brian began his career as a hospitalist in New York, and later established the hospitalist program at Goodall Hospital (now Southern Maine Health Care), along with a primary care internal medicine practice. With specialties in the treatment and management of pain and musculoskeletal medicine, as well as substance abuse, Brian sees his role at Nasson as both a primary care provider and member of the community in which he practices. “It is important to me to feel that I am part of the community I serve. I value the interactions I have with my patients because it helps me understand them so, as a team, we can figure out how to address all the factors impacting their health.”
Dr Peter Edison, MD - Family Practice Physician is originally from the Washington DC area, but calls Maine home. Since 1974 he summered in Maine, and moved here in 1985. He has been practicing medicine since 2001. He completed his family practice training at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Maine and then moved to Oslo, Norway where he is a co-owner of a primary care medical center. He is licensed to practice in the United States and in Norway and travels between the two countries for both business and pleasure. His focus is on preventative health, with focus on diet, exercise, lifestyle changes and he thrives on taking care of patients of all ages.
Hannah Whipple, FNP - Family Nurse Practitioner is a Family Nurse Practitioner who completed her undergraduate degree in ecology and cellular biology at Tulane University before attending the Vanderbilt School of Nursing. A native of Portland, Hannah spent many years in New Orleans, including a period following nursing school during which she provided medical care to residents in areas heavily damaged by Hurricane Katrina. Hannah’s love of medicine is matched only by her care and respect for all people. In her practice, she takes each patient’s full range of needs into consideration to provide comprehensive care. “I try to understand what the underlying issue is,” she explains. “Sometimes it’s just the physical ailment, but often there’s something deeper that’s causing it.”
Laura Hill, FNP - Family Nurse Practitioner has been a Family Nurse Practitioner at Nasson Health Care since 2009. She got her Master’s degree at Simmons College in Boston. Laura previously worked in Portland at Martin’s Point for 8 years and at Goodall Hospital. She enjoys working with families, particularly in the health care setting, trying to help patients in all aspects of their lives.
Marcie Butkovic, FNP - Family Nurse Practitioner originally hails from Deer Isle, Maine. Marcie spent eighteen years as a nurse before returning to school to become a Family Nurse Practitioner, graduating from MCPHS (formerly the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Services) this past May. As a nurse, Marcie specialized in geriatric nursing, and worked in various nursing facilities, including over thirteen years as the Director of Nursing at Piper Shores in Scarborough. Despite this specialized background, Marcie loves working with all age groups, which led her to family practice at Nasson. She especially enjoys working with adolescents, and providing them with a safe place to talk about the issues affecting their physical and emotional wellbeing. Marcie strives to be a partner in her patients’ care by providing them with the knowledge they need to make the best decisions for their care.
